Homework
Students are expected to read for a minimum of 20 minutes to a parent each night. Your signature on the agenda indicates to me that this homework has been completed. If your child misses a night of reading, it is expected that the reading time is made up on another night. For example; if your child does not read Monday night then she / he should read for 40 minutes on Tuesday night. Homework will be given Monday through Thursday evenings. However, students are encouraged to read over the weekend.
Students should also practice their word work using the list of words provided in homework agendas each week. These words are based on word work we will be doing in class. There will not be a weekly quiz on these words; however, I will monitor your child's spelling development through regular informal assessment so extra practice at home is helpful.
